Something people have problems to plugin java, you can test that in my homepage by clicking Blood Sweat and Tears:
[root gershwin ns610-gcc32]# pwd
/usr/local/java/j2re1.4.2_03/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32
[root gershwin ns610-gcc32]# ls
libjavaplugin_oji.so
[root gershwin ns610-gcc32]# ln -s `pwd`/* /usr/lib/mozila/plugins
// and
echo $PATH
/usr/kerberos/sbin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin \:/home/gertjan/bin:/usr/local/java/j2re1.4.2_03/bin // \ is just for the typesetting
