You cannot pass the whole _filename_ for rpm operations that refer to a
package that is already installed. eg.:

~ rpm -q rpm
rpm-4.2.1-0.30

~ rpm -qi rpm 
Name        : rpm                          Relocations: (not
[snip]

~ rpm -qi rpm-4.2.1-0.30
Name        : rpm                          Relocations: (not
[snip]

~ rpm -qi rpm-4.2.1-0.30.i386.rpm
package rpm-4.2.1-0.30.i386.rpm is not installed
