xkb error -- SOLUTION

OK, google solved the problem! Turns out this was discussed a week ago 
on this very forum, although my quick attempts to search the list 
archives before I posted a query didn't find it. Moral: All Praise 
Google, and get in on the IPO...

Two most relevant bug reports for this are (there are dozens and dozens 
of others!):

The quick-and-dirty solution is:

cd /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/rules
ln -s xorg.lst xfree86.lst
reboot


Easy enough!
