My guess is that it's there to support smb:// uri's for i386-only
packages like OpenOffice.org through gnome-vfs2 (which exists in both
i386 and x86_64 forms on FC2), which dlopen()'s the extension libraries
instead of linking to them -> thus no package requires it, it just
provides additional functionality if it's present.
