Accidently installed wrong rpm, now I can't get rid of it!

Your theory is wrong. The kernel-utils package is the right one.

  $ rpm -qa 'kernel*'
  kernel-utils-2.4-9.1.131
  kernel-2.6.7-1.494.2.2
  kernel-2.6.8-1.521
