can't install FC2 on server with AIC 7899

This is very strange. I've just looked at the boot.iso for the FC2 installer 
and it contains the follow modules, amongst others:

2.6.5-1.358/i586/aic79xx.ko
2.6.5-1.358/i586/aic7xxx.ko
2.6.5-1.358/i586/aic7xxx_old.ko

Have you looked at the messages shown in the other terminals (Alt-F3 & Alt-F4) 
in the installer, to see which modules it's trying to load?

Driver disks don't work on FC2 - see
