Geez. The guy just wants to have a useful app. He doesn't want to know about 
software design and engineering.

He doesn't need to know and he probably doesn't care whether 5 or six apps are 
unified behind a GUI or one big app is doing it all.

Explanations such as yours may apply to software engineers and designers but 
not to common day users. This is just alienating people from Linux.
