CD mount problem after DVD rip

Not only does shutting down, disconnecting power, reconnecting and 
rebooting not help, but several cycles of this to uninstall and 
re-install a cd-writer/dvd-rom drive didn't help either.

I can still read data from a dvd (which claims not to be mounted), and 
still cannot mount a CD.
It's not a really weird hardware problem with the drive, because I can 
boot into my old FC1 system and CD's work fine there.

Oh, by the way, this is an FC3 system with a planet CCRMA kernel.  It 
might not be a Fedora issue.
