Mounting USB Drives

I have migrated from fc3 to fc4 with a clean new install. In fc3, there
was no problem auto mounting a usb thumb drive. I cannot remember how I
configured things to do this. I have reviewed all the documentation I
could locate but I cannot mount the drive. I assumed the device was
/dev/scd1.
I appreciate the answer to this simple problem I am unable to solve.
