Arguably, the variable should be DEFAULTKERNELPACKAGENAME, but that's a bit
long. "kernel" and "kernel-smp" are indeed the names of the available kernel
packages. CentOS (RHEL4 rebuild -- I assume RHEL4 has this too) also has
"kernel-hugemem".
