Hungry bittorrent

Hi.
Following a few package updates (Core, Extras et al), bittorrent started 
behaving strangely. btdownloadcurses starts OK, begins downloading and, 
after a few minutes, both the CPU and mem usage go through the roof. 
Left alone, it fills both the physical memory and the swap, eventually 
bringing down the machine. I've tried btdownloadheadless, different 
torrent files, still the same issue.
Some versions:

[ovidiu at ovidiu ~]$ rpm -q python bittorrent
python-2.3.4-13.1
bittorrent-4.1.1-2.1.fc3.rf

Any pointers would be most appreciated.
