FC4 mplayer very weak audio

In same FC4 both xine and mplayer installed, xine works fine, but 
mplayer has very very weak audio - only can hear the dvd film sound when 
turn hardware and software vol to max but still can hear very little, 
equivalent to 1/4 sound level  when played with xine.
I used yum installed from livna.
