a little help with linux

OK this is what I got,

I'm pretty sure it's NOT going to work for my kernal 2.6, when I tried to do 
a make of the files that I downloaded at
sourceforge.net<http://sourceforge.net>(as listed above) it said
something to that effect.....
So, how do I install an older kernal? Will this help me with some of my 
problems?
