That really isn't a case of mixing methods. When you use YUM, it uses
the RPM database to help with determining dependencies, at *that* time.
Next time you use YUM, it works on the current condition of the RPM
database, which would have been updated if your installed something
using RPM. YUM is just acting as an agent to play with RPM.
