Try adding "MII_NOT_SUPPORTED=yes" to
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and see if that takes care
of the problem. Some NICs falsely report that they can detect the
link beat of a good Ethernet connection, and then report that it is
missing. If that is the case here, then this will fix it. (There is
a checkbox in the GUI for it, but I don't remember the name...)
