Linux integration with ADS/LDAP

Good morning,

As my network continues to grow I'm quickly realizing that maintain two
authentication systems, ADS for Windows and NIS for Linux is stupid and
I want to make a change before it gets out of hand.

Is there a how-to or anyone with some good knowledge on integrating
Linux into ADS for authentication and stuff?  I've never looked at doing
this so I have no idea and a Google search just finds bits and pieces of
stuff.

Can someone point me in the right direction???
