That's almost exactly what happens when I've done ndiswrapper with a
Dlink DWL-G520, and the kernel has only 4 stacks.

If you run out of things to try down this alley, you could always try
using the winblows drivers, by going to 

http://www.linuxant.com/driverloader/

And get both their version of the ndiswrapper, plus a kernel to go with
it, that has 16 stacks compiled in.  The cool thing is that they can
give you support.
