What is the consensus on the best partition scheme and size?/Keeping home separate

I like to use just 2 partitions: one for '/', typically 10G or so, and 
one for '/home' for the rest of the disk (plus the swap partition of 
course). That way you can reinstall without touching /home, though be 
sure to backup your /etc directory and/or any emails in /var/spool.
