How did you configure the network for your vmware guests?  Bridged? NAT?
Try shutting down both Fedora 5 and Fedora 6.  Then start Fedora 6 only. 
What happens then?  If still a problem, what errors do you see when
connecting to gmail?  Do you see the "Loading" message?
