Certain screensavers lock my machine up

Interestingly, the majority of the GL stuff seems to run just fine.  I
noticed that GLSlideshow and Gleidescope seem to lock the machine up for
a few minutes like they are looking for something.  Don't those two
actually render images from your drive?  If those images aren't there is
that maybe why they're hanging?
