You probably need to give a bit more information
about what you are trying to do.

If this is to be a second disk.
I would put it in the machine,
think about how you want to partition it,
and use fdisk to implement this.

Then you have to use mkfs.ext3 to make a file system
on each partition you want to use for Linux.

It is pretty simple;
the difficult part is deciding on the partitioning.
