Kernel problem

Hello,
I recently updated to kernel 2.6.22.1-27.fc7 and am already having
problems.My pen-drive is not detected automatically.I need to restart my
computer with the device attached and only then I can use it.Also copying
files within my hard disk from one partition to another has slowed
down.Whatmight be the problem?
