Dear Rahul,

Please don't waste too much time on threads like this
(started by me) as your assistance -
which has been invaluable to me on many occasions -
is of such great value.

On this particular point, I was simply asked
(by the Live CD) if I wanted to "install on the hard disk".
I had no idea what this entailed.
For all I know it could mean over-writing everything on the disk.

There probably should be a warning, or statement,
that you will be asked to confirm before anything irretrievable is done.
