I have had the best luck with mplayer, when streaming mms:.  For some
reason, however your movies are insisting on using totem (&^$%#%&
Firefox plugin handling!,  I removed the totem-plugin months ago but
apparently Firefox never forgets.).  Anyway I regularly stream mms:
audio and have usually been successful with video using mplayer from
sites such as cnn.com
