FC6 install : DVD boots but Anaconda never starts

I am trying to install FC6 on a Intel machine from a Sony DVD RW DW-Q120A. When I reboot the machine,

Vmlinuz starts up and I get the screen “Welcome to Fedora!” but Anaconda never runs. Has anyone seen

This problem?
