HAL is adding extra printers to my printer list.

same here, actually it is not on top of the list only because I have also a
parallel printer on lp0 (so it is on top of the USB printers..)
But I find more annoying that each time that cups is updated I have to
delete and re-install the printer, otherwise it doesn't work (and I have to
remember the name otherwise networked computer wouldn't print!!!
