Make sure that the host is ignoring the guest VG.  You can do this
via the filters in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf.

Use a virtualizer e.g., QEMU, to boot a Fedora rescue or live CD,
with the block device in question passed to the guest.  Then make
the desired changes inside the guest.
