I hadn't looked at comparing speeds, but I've noticed a difference in
the available screen modes for my monitor.  I could get the full highest
resolution for my monitor using the nvidia driver, but the nv one didn't
let me pick it.  I think there were some differences in the screen
refresh rates, too.  Not radical ones, but might be significant if you
get headaches from some refresh rates.
