Do a "man dos2unix" to see what it is....  "OS/MAC to UNIX text file
format converter".

If your file has extraneous characters at the end of the line you will
see the problem you are seeing. 

As I said, I suspect your "filter" script has "^M" at the end of the
lines. 

Do you know how to use "vi"?
