As another indication that something else seems to be broken with nss_files:

warning: group tty does not exist - using root

tty is in the /etc/group installed by setup as the 2nd package 
installed, so group tty definitely should exist.

Maybe time to abandon livecd-creator on F8 and move to rawhide?
