How is:
post-install sound-card-0 /usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
pre-remove sound-card-0 /usr/sbin/alsactl store >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
in modules.conf
I think that covers what you want.
