Since this is more and more a community project...how about you contact
the license holders and ask them how much it would cost to get a
perpetual patent license that is not in conflict with the GPL. Get a
price if you can get one...and then see how many people in the community
are willing to fork over $$ towards a buyout of that GPL friendly
license. Asking Red Hat to buy this license if its contrary to their
long term business strategy of supporting OPEN standards...is a little
short sighted.
