I don't think any of the Red Hat lists use the subject mangling.  Instead 
you should use a system like "procmail" or "maildrop" to sort your mail 
into different folders.  In addition, most GUI mail clients offer mail 
sorting features, and so do free mail services like Yahoo. 

It really only takes 5 minutes to set up mail sorting for mailing lists, 
and it makes reading large amounts of email *SO* much easier.  Go for it!
