I got an Celestica *A8440* board with 4 Opteron 1.8 GHZ. The installation runs without a problem.
But I can't boot the SMP Kernel. I get an 'Kernel panic. Idle Task not sync'. The problem, i found out, is the switch 'K8 NUMA support' in the kernel config. If i turn it off the kernel boots with SMP support.
Is there a backtrace too? Can you bugzilla this please?
Solved the problem by loading the system in rescue mode. So I can build my own SMP kernel. The next problem is that i can not run initrd on the system. It tells me every time that all loopback device are busy.
This too. (seperate bug). Seeing whats going on using strace might be useful here.
RichardDoes someone has the same problems or a solution?
Sadly not just yet.
