sysklogd seems to be a security problem waiting to happen.

metalog appears to be roughly unmaintained except for every year or so
someone touches it

syslog-ng has been actively maintained, runs stably from hundreds of
systems logging to a central loghost and has some very advanced
features.

if it's not obvious already I am very much in favor of syslog-ng

There are some nice packages of syslog-ng up for QA at fedora.us.
