Odd ALSA problem

I go in as su and chown root.sound /dev/dsp* - this changes the owner of
the dsp* devices to root.sound. Log out as su, logout as any user. Log
in as me and do ls -l /dev/dsp* and all bar /dev/dsp has the ownership
changed to paul.sound
