KDE Restart/Shutdown?

if you use kdm as your display manager then you can shutdown or reboot the 
system from kde  for some reason when using GDM it doesnt work as you would 
expect.

you can either remove the gdm package and restart x or 
edit /etc/sysconfig/desktop and add a line DISPLAYMANAGER="KDM" and restart x
and you will get the expected behaviur from kde
