Gnome cannot start continued

What happens when you start in safe mode ( a plain X session ) and you
run the command gnome-session. This might dump some error messages that
are meaning full or at least give you some thing more to post to the
list other than "It doesnt work" ;)

Your problem is indeed odd but with out see some kind of output from
gnome or some error messages or being at your machine it is very hard to
diagnose. Are you clearing the /tmp dir on boot up? Might be a good
idea just in case gnome is not clearing out some files on exit. Do you
get an error message at all when logging in. I have noticed a few times
that after updating that some of the Xsesions scripts would be broken.
But it would at least tell you something was wrong at login. Have you
seen something similar ( appologies if this was mentioned in a previous
posting. )

Let us know what you find.

Cheers

Aaron
