Lost sound in Doom3 after enabling desktop sounds

Hi,

I am trying the Doom 3 demo; it is awesome!!
However, I have lost my sound after enabling sound special effects in
KDE:

Here is what the doom start up shows:

Any ideas?  
Meanwhile, I will attempt to disable all of the sound special effects in
KDE.
