Files on Desktop

I noticed this too the other day--but you don't have to reboot or
logout/login.  you can just killall nautilus, which will cause it to be
restarted.  not a perfect solution, but it's less time-consuming than
rebooting/logging out/in.  =:)  anyone know why nautilus is acting
funky?
