Config modified?

As I use Fedora, and particularly now that I'm thinking in a "test"
mentality, I keep thinking about the average user, who does not have
much computing knowledge. I keep thinking about the users coming to
Linux from Windows, and in some cases giving up because the learning
curve is too great.

For the beginner and average user, is this new up2date behavior
sensible? I don't think so. Does someone? Is there any other benefit to
it that I don't see? If there is, is that benefit worth the cost?
