Just an update on this...
The sourceforge *src.rpms do work.  It expects you to edit the spec
file and I didn't now what it really wanted.  But then I found this
helpfull page on bacula web site:
  http://www.bacula.org/html-manual/rpm-faq.html#faq1

That tells just what to do.

I'm still having a dependancy problem but moving that to a different
thread.
