printer not configured during installation

Now that I can launch OpenOffice, I printed a small job just to test 
OO.  Surprise!  No printer. 
Not a big problem, just had to set up my printer in 
system-config-printer.  But, this is the first time I've had to actually 
set up the printer since I tried out Debian...choke.....  It's 
surprising that it wasn't discovered and configured by kudzu.
