networking problems after an update

It looks that during the latests rawhide update something
renamed on its own, in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts,
ifcfg-eth0 to ifcfg-eth0.bak and ifcfg-eth1 to ifcfg-eth1.bak.
Links in /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/, although not
in ....profiles/default/, vanished too.  As a result only
a loopback was active after a reboot.  Surprise!  I cannot
figure out what had such bright idea.  Any hints?
