Latets yum thoroughly hosed?!

I just get:
# yum check-update
Setting up repositories
extras-dev: ################################################## 2/2
Reading repository metadata in from local files
Killed

Even though I didn't kill the process. This is after about 3 minutes of
CPU thrashing. I'm guessing there's an internal timer that is triggering a
kill...
