Okay, let me clarify.
My laptop was paid for on 8th July 2005 and built shortly after by Dell.
So 2 years might have been a little sloppy.
The DVD runnings poorly when it appears as /dev/hdc, but speeds along
when it appears as /dev/sdc.
I've got it working as a scsi device with kernel-2.6.15-1.1824_FC4, but
I had to pass hdc=noprobe during boot.
