I'm having the exact same issue.
i have a Acer Aspire 5630

The mkinitrd and nash versions i use:
[root localhost ~]# rpm -aq | grep mkinit
mkinitrd-6.0.13-1.fc8
[root localhost ~]# rpm -aq | grep nash
nash-6.0.13-1.fc8
[root localhost ~]#


Also the last update round broke my grub splash image.. it's now just black.
