Concerning the automount/CPU trouble with test kernels 2.6.22x in some systems

While testing the new kernels, I have noted that the automount program
consumes lots and lots of CPU time and never ends. This happens on a
Dell D820 Latitude. There is a related bug report about it in
bugzilla.redhat.com ( 247711 )
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=247711. The
posts seem to say the bug links back to the use of the high precision
event timer (HPET) in the new kernels and in that bug report the
author offers a patch which does seem to fix it. The high precision
timer will eventually give laptops longer life, so it is worth our
effort to explore it.

I posted RPMs for autofs in case other people want to try/test without
rebuilding the rpm for themselves.

That is exactly the same as the autofs official release, except it
adds a Patch 20, which I called "automount.patch". I left the SRPM in
that same directory too, so if you want to build for other systems,
have fun. I'll build for x86_64 eventually..
