boot with mode=vesa

if you append  ' 3' (without quotes) to the kernel line, will start in
runlevel 3 (multiuser,network,text) and then you can edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
, replace
Driver "something"
line with
Driver "vesa"
save and reboot.
