Specifically, this part: 

]] I solved the problem by adding the following udev rule
]] (/etc/udev/rules.d/95-zire.rules):

]] BUS="usb", KERNEL="ttyUSB*", SYMLINK="pilot"

Does this need to be added into a rule somewhere?
